Faith thrives in the context of community. When relationships are severed and in disrepair, the church has a unique opportunity to bring the love of Christ into the sphere of conflict resolution through peace building and restoration. Generations of complex conflict require brave and thoughtful people to step in and creatively bridge the gaps. When that happens, reconciliation begins to transform to something beyond mere negotiations to the seeds of relational healing and restoration. Hardened hearts and fortified walls that separate come down and communities begin to mend. Education, dialogue, and readied hearts provide an atmosphere to realize forgiveness and rebuild that community; to engage with one another, share stories, promote understanding, and connect. Restoration needs to be holistic and address physical, medical, economic, spiritual, and emotional needs. It gives an outlet for the love of Christ and for the gospel to transform peoples, nations.
Where: Cairo, Egypt
When: April 2012
Cost: $1950
Contact: CLOSED
What: We will work with Christians and Muslims, together, to assist the poorest of the poor in an area of Cairo known as Manshiyet Nasser. With its narrow dirt streets and precariously built houses, it is home to tens of thousands of people who for decades have been living off the garbage of Cairo. We will partner with a sister Church who is passionate about reconciliation with Muslims and caring for the sick of their city. And yes, we will definitely see the Pyramids, and just maybe ride a camel!
Where: Berlin, Germany
When: October 14-23, 2011
Cost: $2500
Contact: CLOSED
What: On this trip we’ll explore social justice issues affecting Berlin and respond to them through film, music, photography, and other forms of artistic expression, culminating in a two day art gallery to engage locals in conversations of faith through art. We’ll be working with NCC staff member John Hasler and the team he is developing in Berlin. The trip will be a microcosm of the project John will be launching next year, allowing his team to test cultural assumptions and observe interactions between our team and locals.
Where: Bangkok, Thailand
When: February 9-19, 2012
Cost: $1950
Contact: CLOSED
What: Each year thousands of girls in rural Thailand flock to Bangkok to work in clubs and brothels. We will partner with The Well as they show the love of God to survivors of the sex industry the same way Christ loved “the woman at the well” in John 4. We will also work alongside fellow NCCer Cori Wittman who became a full-time missionary with The Well after taking an NCC trip to Thailand in 2008. Warning: this trip will give you an inside look into the sex industry. Team members will need to prepare themselves emotionally and spiritually to learn about the issues of trafficking, slavery, prostitution, and poverty.
Where: Greece
When: March 2012
Cost: $3000
Contact: CLOSED
What: Building off the momentum of our 2011 Greece Trip, we will join the A21 Campaign as they seek to abolish injustice in the 21st century. There are 12.3 million human trafficking victims in the world today; as long as there is only one, we have a mandate to fight it. In addition to serving with the A21 Campaign, we will work with a new church plant in Athens, Greece and explore Biblical history in the lands of Paul’s missionary journeys.
Where: Kansas City, Missouri
When: May 10-17, 2012
Cost: $900
Contact: Katlyn Cho katlyn05@gmail.com
What: We will go for a week to receive practical training in the prophetic ministry at the International House of Prayer (IHOP). During this week, we hope to learn how to live a life of “greater, deeper, truer prayer,” how to better discern the Lord’s voice, and how to depend on the Spirit’s strength in ministering to others. As true prayer leads us closer to God’s heart and desire for His children to love, act justly and walk humbly, we will also look at practical ways to contend for justice and walk out compassion by serving the adopted/foster care children, homeless and victims of human trafficking.

Stopping Sexual Exploitation
The aim of the Stopping Sexual Exploitation group is to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the sexually exploited, as well as raise awareness and provide education about sexual exploitation in the D.C. Metro area. Our vision is to reach out to the D.C. Metro community through three key ways:
Physically – Establish street outreach and community meet-ups.
Emotionally – Provide mental health options for those affected by sexual exploitation, as well as educate the D.C Metro area regarding exploitation that is occurring in our community.
Spiritually – As an NCC group, offer a safe community for the sexually exploited to discover or deepen their spiritual beliefs, as well as further spiritual growth in our own NCC community through service to others.
